(Reuters) - Greece abandoned a nine-day hunt for a government on Tuesday and called a new election that threatens to hasten the nation's slide towards bankruptcy and a future outside the euro zone.

California Deficit Swells to $16 Billion, Governor Brown Says

California Governor Jerry Brown said his state�s budget deficit grew to $16 billion amid a tepid economic recovery that sapped tax collections even as actions by the federal government and courts blocked cost cutting measures.

The shortfall has widened from the $9.2 billion Brown estimated in January, after April income-tax revenue missed budget forecasts by $2 billion. He�s set to unveil a revised spending plan tomorrow and said he will need to make cuts even deeper than he has already proposed.

The euro slid versus the dollar by the most in almost a month and reached an 11-week low against the yen after further slowing in the region�s economies and before national elections that may result in leadership changes.

The yen rose versus all of its 16 most-traded peers, gaining for a second week versus the greenback, as a smaller- than-forecast payrolls gain in the U.S. and recessions in the U.K. and Spain increased demand for haven assets. Technical analysis of EUR/USD currency pair 05.03.2012

When the price reached the descending trend line, which is drawn in the picture, on 1st of May, the price was starting falling. This movement was exactly what all technical traders predicted about the market�s movement.
